This training explores the concept of “wintering” as a framework for ethical rest, renewal, and reflective practice in the mental health professions. Topics covered include the cyclical nature of professional well-being, the NASW Code of Ethics guidance on self-care and impairment, burnout prevention, boundary maintenance, and the integration of wintering principles into clinical work with clients.
Participants will learn how to identify their own seasons of rest and renewal, apply ethically grounded self-care strategies, recognize early signs of professional fatigue, and incorporate wintering concepts into therapeutic conversations to support clients in navigating periods of withdrawal, overwhelm, or transition.
As a result of this training, attendees will leave with increased awareness, concrete tools, and an individualized Wintering Plan to promote sustainable and competent practice.
This program has been approved for 2 Continuing Education Credits by NASW/CT and meets the continuing education criteria for CT Social Work Licensure renewal. This approval may also be used by LMFTs, LPCs, and licensed psychologists for license renewal.
